Front End Web Developer – £30-35k, remote (UK-based) REMOTEPERMANENT

Job Description

Help us make beautiful and accessible websites for leading arts and cultural organisations.

Salary: £30-£35k – depending on experience
Location: Fully-remote team (UK-based)
Type: Permanent, full-time – with the option to work flexible hours
Apply by: Friday 12 February 2021

We're particularly keen to hear from people who're currently under-represented in the tech industry.

Whether you call yourself a developer, coder, or engineer, you care about writing maintainable, scalable, well-documented code, and build for accessibility and performance.

You’re a problem-solver and a doer. Most at home when elbow-deep in code, you can also communicate clearly with less technical folks. A good communicator over Slack and video chat, working from home suits you nicely – and you have a decent internet connection.

Day-to-day, you welcome new challenges and can work on multiple projects. Comfortable with a level of autonomy – managing your own time and to-do list – you also enjoy talking-through ideas, and being an active part of a team focused on building the best possible websites.

You're fluent in spoken and written English, and you live – and have the right to work – in the UK.

As well as helping to maintain existing websites, you’ll be building new responsive user interfaces – with semantic HTML, CSS, and JS – and wiring them into Craft CMS.

Additionally, you’ll:

  • Write tests and document the results
  • Diagnose and squish bugs
  • Write clear, useful technical documentation
  • Take part in code reviews
  • Keep up-to-date with relevant technologies, and approaches to work
  • Have an eye for design detail

Our front end stack includes: Sass, Vue.js, Twig, Craft CMS, Gulp, Web Pack

We're an experienced and straight-talking team of problem-solvers, who build websites that make life easier for arts and cultural organisations – and their audiences.

Salary and benefits:

  • £30k-£35k depending on experience
  • Fully-remote working
  • Flexible hours
  • Minimum 31 days holiday – including Bank Holidays and a company-wide 2-week break over Christmas
  • Additional leave for long service, from 2 years
  • NEST Pension with employee and employer contributions
  • TOIL for working outside of regular hours (this should be a given, but isn't always!)
  • Professional development opportunities to learn, and attend/speak at conferences
  • Working with clients in the charitable sector
  • Environmentally responsible employer

We're committed to being an inclusive, diverse, and welcoming employer – here's our Manifesto On Inclusivity. As such, we're keen to hear from people who're currently under-represented in the tech industry.

(To reduce unconscious bias, certain information – including your name, date of birth, contact details, and educational qualifications – will be hidden from the hiring panel during the initial CV / Cover Letter review.)
