About the Role:
Chicago Union Station is seeking an experienced Web Developer to manage and enhance its official website. The site is built on Craft CMS (currently version 3) and requires updates, accessibility improvements, and ongoing maintenance to ensure a secure, modern, and user-friendly experience for visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Upgrade Craft CMS from version 3 to a supported version to maintain security and stability
• Conduct a full accessibility audit and implement WCAG-compliant improvements
• Perform design updates and introduce new features to improve user experience
• Ensure site performance, security, and responsiveness across devices
• Provide ongoing support for content updates and technical troubleshooting

Requirements:

• Proven experience with Craft CMS (including upgrades and migrations)
• Strong understanding of web accessibility standards and best practices
• Proficiency in front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Familiarity with responsive design and modern UX principles
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with CMS security best practices
• Knowledge of SEO and performance optimization
• Previous work on accessibility audits and remediation

Contract Details:
This is a freelance role with ongoing support needs. Initial scope includes CMS upgrade, accessibility improvements, and design enhancements. Budget and timeline will be discussed based on project scope.
