The Team

The Marketing Web team manages some of the most important sales tools for BigCommerce, our corporate website, community site, and developer portal.  Our websites not only promotes our business and increase our leads generation, it is also an important asset for our brand identity.

Our team manages the tools that aid the Marketing team to quickly and efficiently publish beautiful web content to promote our products and new features.  We are focused on building a comprehensive marketing UI pattern library to provide the company with the necessary tools to communicate effectively and stay on brand.

What You Will Do

• Build beautiful web experiences and be an expert in the front-end domain.
• Build high-performance, maintainable user interfaces using the latest content management technologies.
• Advocate for modern development practices and tools.
• Collaborate with our marketing and design teams to define feature specifications and timelines.
• Build new functionality with a focus on manageability and extensibility.
• Engage in technical discussions of new solutions and architectures.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain and improve quality.
• Work with our operations team to improve the architecture while building and scaling front-end services.
• Support an open, positive, and energized culture.
• Encourage innovation and foster an environment of continuous improvement.
• Ensure that technical decisions support our goals of quality, performance, scalability, reliability, availability, and security.

Who You Are

• Experienced web development professional with 3+ years of experience building amazing things that speak for themselves.
• In depth knowledge of maintaining and refactoring existing applications.
• Passion for web standards and best practices.
• Knowledge with WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards and guidelines.
• Experience in building mobile first & responsive web.
• Experience with at least one modern client-side JavaScript framework.  (AngularJS, Backbone, Ember, React, etc)
• Working knowledge of JavaScript task runners.  (Gulp, Grunt)
• Experience with CSS preprocessors.  (SCSS, LESS)
• Knowledge of CMS integration and plugin development.  (Craft, ExpressionEngine, etc.)
• Familiarity with PHP and frameworks.  (Yii, Laravel, CodeIgniter)
• Experience integrating with RESTful APIs.
• Good understanding of version control.  (git)
• Ability to create assets from Sketch and Illustrator designs.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Excellent interpersonal skills - collaborate, facilitate, and negotiate as necessary.
