Square Owl is a leading digital consultancy based in Manchester, founded in 2014. We’re a small close knit team, supported by a network of specialists. Lockdown was an opportunity to re-evaluate, we’ve come out stronger and we’re going for it! We’re recruiting a junior to mid-weight PHP developer so this is a great opportunity to become part of our growing team.

Development work has been outsourced up to now. You’ll be our first in-house developer and this means you’ll have the chance to build a team under you as time progresses, and lead the direction of our development team.

What we’re looking for

We want to work with like-minded people who set high standards for themselves and the work that they produce. You should be able to commute to central Manchester (Once Covid is over), extra points if you can quote ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ and like Idles!

• LEMP stack

We are increasingly building more and more PWAs so any experience here is great, if not it’s something we’d be keen for you to develop. It would also be great if you had any experience with AWS.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Building websites with CraftCMS
• Delivering change requests to existing CraftCMS sites
• Developing new functionality
• Managing repos including merges and conflicts
• Bringing innovative ideas to the table on projects
• Estimating and managing your time
• Light dev-ops including setting up servers, deployment, DNS updates
• Communicating with clients
• Testing and debugging errors across major browsers
• Offering advice to account managers and non-technical staff
