I started my development career as a Junior ASP developer, developing website with Access Databases with an ODBC connection as well as the use of SQL.
My career then took me to the front-end of the web, the UI/UX. HTML, JavaScript and CSS. Which led me to use CMS systems such as WordPress, Drupal, ExpressionEngine and Craft CMS.
My passion lies in the ever exciting and changing world of front-end development and UI/UX. I am eager to also dip my toe into the world of mobile using front-end technologies with e.g. Ionic 2, etc.
I find that out of all the CMS systems that I have used and developed with that Craft CMS is one of the most end user friendly, developer friendly and just all around well rounded CMS system. I know you are probably thinking, WordPress is the way to go, but don't let that stop you from exploring other CMS systems. Viget for example, they moved away from WordPress and went to Craft for its ease of use and less hacking. Why we love Craft - Viget
How I keep my skills sharp
I keep my skills sharp by doing online courses through various websites e.g. Team Treehouse, Udemy, Code Academy.
Recently I started learning Swift as well as Ionic 2 since its final release.
I just purchase Design for Humanity: A New Perspective on User Experience by Eric Meyer on Udemy, so going to crack through that as well.
What I want to do next
I am interested in exploring the mobile space using front-end development languages (CSS, HTML and JS).
I would like to expand on my knowledge of Craft CMS to incorporate more new and exciting websites and ideas that can challenge ones way of thinking.
A need for an easy to use CMS with an already created theme/website.
Project: Back-end setup as well as front-end integration.
The need for the office admin to be able to have an easy yet reliable CMS to work from for a non tech savvy person, Craft CMS was a no brainer. Easy to learn as well as setup, the interim website was developed in Craft.
Project: Front-end development with CSS, HTML and jQuery, as well as integration with Craft CMS and back-end setup.
A website for a Motion Picture Stills Photographer that naturally lent itself to being developed in Craft CMS, so that the client can easily upload new photos as they are ready for release.
Project: Front-end development with CSS, HTML and jQuery, as well as integration with Craft CMS and back-end setup.
Still a work in progress, the move from ExpressionEngine to Craft CMS seemed natural. Both Craft CMS and Craft Commerce were used for the development of the website.
